This time I want to tell you how our actions in the past year will affect the future of the FCI. I am not saying it is not important to summarise our achievements and to explain why we proceeded in a certain way, but I want to talk about our future as an international organisation, but most important about the future of our dogs worldwide.

Three aspects have been transcendental during the past year; cooperation and collaboration, innovation and preparation for the future. These three aspects will lead our organisation for the next year.

The holidays are close at hand, and we’re all yearning to make the most of it and take some well-deserved rest. On the other hand, our canine friends will enjoy no real break since the world of shows remains quite active in July and August.

They will have to be well-prepared for some major events that lie ahead by the end of August.

The FCI European Section Show organisers will thus be looking forward to welcoming you in Kiev from August 25th to August 27th; the Ukrainian canine organisation (UKU) has already demonstrated its expertise on many occasions, and there is no doubt that the event will live up to expectations. Shanghai, in turn, will have the pleasure to host the participants in the FCI Asia and Pacific Section Show from October 3rd to October 6th, 2017. Here, too, there can be little doubt about the excellent organisation, as the China Kennel Union (CKU) has already provided impressive demonstration of its professionalism in organising events. Moreover, the show will allow good rehearsal for the 2019 World Dog Show.

Our show dogs will not be the only ones to be roped in at the end of summer. Our four-legged friends can also be workaholics. Working is vital for them; it is a source of pleasure and fun, too. A set of continental championships (Agility, IPO, Mondioring, Hunting and Racing) are thus included in the calendar. We encourage you to click on the following link: http://www.fci.be/fr/schedules/ which will allow you to get the full picture of our working championships.

In short, as you can see, July and August will not necessarily mean rest for our friends, who will seize the opportunity to lay the best possible groundwork for the major deadlines that await them.

I wish you all a great and sunny holiday with your four-legged friends.

Sincerely yours,

Y. De Clercq
FCI Executive Director
